Patrice Scanlon
Patrice Scanlon is an electronic musician, dancer and intermedia artist living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work plants audiences in the center of the ring where academic music is in one corner and popular music in the other. The battle of these two separate identities and stigmas are presented through Scanlon’s dark, ethereal and rhythmic music that invites the listeners to embrace that which is familiar as well as unfamiliar to them.

Title: Fancy Footwork, 2006/2007,05:08
‘Fancy Footwork’ is part of a series of music/dance videos by multimedia artist Heike Liss and musician/composer Patrice Scanlon, and was filmed in downtown Stuttgart at 2 o’clock in the morning on July 9, 2006. Germany had just won 3rd place in the World Cup and several hundred thousand fans had gathered to party. Liss captured a steady flow of legs, feet and flags going up and down the stairs outside the “Kunstmuseum”, an apparently choreographed event accompanied by Scanlon’s ‘house’ soundtrack.
